Introduction
John K. Hale is the author of multiple books and articles on John Milton: his poetry, Latin and Greek, and theological writings.
From 1971 to 2005 he taught and researched in the Department of English at the University of Otago
(Dunedin, New Zealand), where he is now an Honorary Fellow.
For many years, his ‘Milton Marathons’ (community performances of Paradise Lost) were a feature of his teaching.
His publications have been recognised by awards from the Milton Society of America.
